about

Strange times, very many years ago.

2005.

Greek Olympics. Katrina. The creation of YouTube. The end of the armed conflict with the IRA in Northern Ireland. Guantanamo Bay hunger strikes. Bush's reelection. Mass war protests in September. The passing of Rosa Parks. United States prison population crosses the 2.5 million mark. All the while the war in Iraq and Afghanistan waged on.

Long before analog synths in my catalog, long before tours and tears and loss and travel and my obsession with Las Vegas.

I was about 115lbs, angry and clueless. Caffeine and cigarettes were all I needed, so I thought.

Nevermind facebook, instagram, tik tok, twitter, efficient texting, Netflix, angry karens and the rise of literal, actual nazi's in the United States. All that horrible shit had yet to occur.

So much has changed, people passed and pages turned.

I've lost touch with a lot of people from that time period, and some of them are still my best of friends. Life is strange.

Here's a snapshot - just a glimpse - of what I was doing in 2005. I've attached the original (cringe/low-res) artwork as a bonus with the download so you can cringe as well.

The work itself - including collaborations with some of my internet peeps, then - still stands up, and I don't regret a thing. Everything was done entirely in the DAW (FL Studio 4?!) in my tiny box apartment in Ocean View in Norfolk, VA.
2nd floor, right across the street from the water of the Chesapeake Bay. No AC, though I think a window unit did eventually appear.

Enjoy,
